Sanganer
Sixteen kilometers on Tonk Road, this old township is close to the airport and has quite a few attractions. It has beautiful Jain temples, a ruined palace, broken city walls, triple gateways and a neglected Mughal garden. It is better known for its hand block printed textiles which has become very popular the world over. Hand made paper and blue potteries are the other important crafts of Sanganer.
Bagru
Thirty five kilometers southwest on Ajmer Road. The fort here is on ground level and is still intact. This town is also known for its hand-printed cloth, which has simple designs and colours of more earthy shades.
Ramgarh
TWenty five kilometers northeast, this ancient site has now become a major attraction for the citizens of Jaipur who throng here for the picnic in rainy season. There is a huge artificial lake amidst tree-covered hills. This lake is also major source of water supply for the city of Jaipur. The old royal huntin glodge has now been converted into a Heritage Hotel. The Kachhawas first settled here before moving to Amer. The temple os Jamwa Mata, the family deity of the Kachha
Samod
Forty kilometers northwest, the old palace here was renovated and rebuilt in the 19th century. They are beautifully painted and decorated and are fines examples of Rajput haveli architecture. This palace has now been converted into a heritage hotel.
Bairath
Eighty six kilometers of the Shahpura-Alwar Road, Bairath finds mention even during the epic age by the name of Viratnagar. It contains the relics and structures of Buddhist, Mauryan, Mughal and Rajput periods. There are excavated remains of a circular Buddhist temple, the only one of its kind in the country and two rock edicts of Ashoka the Great dating back to the 3rd century B.C. The great Mughal emperor Akbar constructed a mint here. His son Jehangir built a beautiful Mughal garden and a remarkable monument with painted chhatri and walls. Temples and monuments of comparatively recent times can also be seen here.
Bandikui
This ancient place is famous mainly for the temple of harshad Mata built in the 7th and 8th century and the stepped well Chand Baoli. There are two Jain temples of recent times. The temple of Harshad Mata is decorated with delicate sculpture of a very high quality.
